I don't know about you but I like to be able to see things I intend to shoot at. Not try to figure out which two pixels they are through my dropships hull. Well I don't know about you but I like FLYING dropships, Without it blocking my view....
Prvt Numnutz, I've ridden turret-gunner with you, so I can confirm you're one of us "TRANSPORT-FIRST, COMBAT-later" DS drivers. There are a humble (LOL, well,... more humble than ADS jockeys) few of us who run the dropship for its air maneuvering more than its chin-cannon opportunities, but sadly our opinions are voiced with smaller and less menacing representation on this game than our "Assault" brethren.
But Dust Fiend is right... We need to wait and see (after all we're just guests in someone else's party, and CCP owns the house). Who knows, it might be a change to the benefit of NAVIGATION over combat. I personally liked patch 1.5's VERY TIGHT downward camera the most, but I knew it wasn't great for ADS work, only for LOGI drivers.
Maybe 1.7 will bring a "BEST" to both worlds.
Fingers crossed, players! |

... After all the enlarged ego and fastidiousness that we DS folks are famous for, I am shocked to see that no one bumped or updated your thread.
Maybe I can contribute:
I am NOT and ADS fan, so one of you with an ADS vehicle will have to post HOW the camera has changed for it. I WILL say the camera change is VERY subtle, but positive for at least the NAGIVATION of our DS. I am the player who proposed to CCP the (for better or worse?) 1:2.5 ratio of visible open space around the vehicle at all times/in all maneuvers.. They seem to have held to that attitude, and the 1.7 camera feels a TAD closer to the DS's behind, and a TAD higher over the DS's back. The result is a SLIGHTLY more downward view onto the landscape as you're flying forward, and the horizon ahead of you is pushed just a TAD higher to the top of you TV. The great part is all these adjustments were SLIGHT and TAD.
I love it, and hope that this puts a final end to the now-famous dropship default camera set-up. But "I" is a selfish word, and has no significance if lots of others are suffering. I am interested in reading what the rest of you think... |
